We were brainstorming different ideas for Knights of the Dreadnaught, an arena shooter. I suggested a more TRON-like look for our characters. My logic was that I was the only 3D artist/specialist on the team, and I thought it would be more practical to model and animate something simple like this.

After a little bit of thought and pitching the reference material, the team agreed.

Here are some of the concepts I showed my team.





These are my initial sketch's on ideas for the helmets, armor, and weapon.

We ended up agreeing on the Motorhead helmet.

I modeled one half of the helmet fairly easily from my sketch. Then I mirrored it.



For the armor, I modeled a male body, then smoothed out and rounded off parts and details that would not show through with a suit like this.

I then added the black blinn with the blue highlights also using a blinn.
